1. Carbon Steel Plate, the material will get better results when cut with oxygen. When oxygen is used as a processing gas, the cutting edge will be slightly oxidized. Modern laser cutting machine can cut the maximum thickness of carbon steel plate up to 20 mm, using oxidation melting cutting mechanism to cut the carbon steel slit can be controlled in a satisfactory width range, for the thin plate its slit can be narrowed to about 0.1 mm.
2. Stainless steel, laser cutting on the use of stainless steel sheet as the main component of the manufacturing industry is an effective processing tool. Cutting stainless steel needs: using high-pressure nitrogen can get no oxidation no burr edge, do not need to deal with. Coating oil film on the surface of sheet will get better perforation effect without reducing the quality of machining.
3. Aluminum cutting is a melting laser cutting mechanism, the auxiliary gas used is mainly used to blow away the molten products from the cutting zone, usually can obtain better cutting surface quality. For some aluminum alloys, attention should be paid to the prevention of Intergranular micro-cracks on the surface of the slit. Pure aluminum is very difficult to cut because of its high purity, only in the fiber laser cutting machine system installed with “Reflection absorption”device to cut aluminum. Otherwise, the reflection will destroy the optical components.
4. Titanium and its alloys, pure titanium can be well coupled with the heat energy transformed by laser beam. When oxygen is used as auxiliary gas, the chemical reaction is intense and the cutting speed is fast, but it is easy to form oxide layer at the cutting edge. To be on the safe side, it is better to use air as auxiliary gas to ensure cutting quality.
5. Copper and brass, both of which have high reflectivity and excellent thermal conductivity. Pure copper (red copper) can not be cut by CO2 laser because of its high reflectivity. Brass (copper alloy) using higher laser power, auxiliary gas using air or oxygen, you can cut a thinner sheet. Brass with a thickness of less than 1mm can be cut with nitrogen; copper with a thickness of less than 2mm can be cut with oxygen.
